Game Day: Friday, June 5th

I saw on the Google news feed, Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs superstar, throwing out the first pitch at an MLB game the other day.   This guy is 7'6'' tall and he is on the sidelines smiling, talking to reporters and I'm anticipating the throw, you know, as a baseball fan.   The PA announcer calls him out for the first pitch.  Here comes Wembanyama.  He's laughing and smiling and I'm thinking he's going to whip the ball like Jon Rauch.  Wembanyama takes the ball, toes the mound, winds up and throws the ball like a fucking alien.  It was so bad.  I never seen anybody throw like that.  His throw will certainly go down as one of the weakest efforts of all-time.   I was amazed by it. World-class NBA basketball player can't throw a baseball.   I remember LeBron threw out the first pitch for the Dodgers or the Indians, and he threw the ball like a sissy too.  LeBron James, one of the greatest athletes of all...

Pick Result: "Smooth Sailin" Three-Team Parlay - LOSS

1 for 3 last night on our picks and that's good for an MLB batsman but in our game it's a loss.  You have to win all three games to cash a parlay ticket.   Chris Sale didn't have a great start, allowed 10 hits and three earned runs and takes the loss for Atlanta.  Wrobleski had a good start and the Dodgers were in great position to win that game last night but couldn't score the runs.  Ryne Nelson gets the win and the Dimaonbacks split the series.   The Royals managed to win a game and it was the offense to credit.  KC scored eight runs in an 8-6 victory over the Twins.  Seth Lugo didn't pitch all that well but the Twins' bullpen is as bad as we had counted on them being. I'm 10-10 on picks this season, 10 wins and 10 losses, right at .500 with the average odds per pick hovering right around (-130).  Probability says I should be winning 56.50 percent of my picks.  Luck hasn't been on my side this season.   I continue to re...

Today's Pick: "Smooth Sailin" Three-Team Parlay (+335)

I am stacking up three games today for a shot at a (+335) payout.  I like all three picks and from what I reckon, this ticket has as good of a shot at cashing as any of the other bets I have delivered this season. So, let's put it on. I would like to make this clear.  Resignation to what I would consider forces outside of my control is in no way "winging it" -- I put in my work today and researched the games thoroughly.  I settled on these three picks as being the best value and the best bets on the board. KCR (-115) ML @ MIN I like Seth Lugo.  Lugo (2-4) hasn't posted spectacular numbers this season and had a rocky flight across the month of May but he put in some good work in his last start in Fort Worth on May 30th.  Lugo went six innings against the Rangers, only allowed one earned run, struck out six batters and didn't issue a walk.  It was Lugo's third quality start in a row.  If Lugo can get six innings tonight, the Royals will be in good positi...

Game Day: Thursday, June 4th

No posts, no picks yesterday.  I woke up to a potential disaster and it ruined my entire day.  I made an effort and I couldn't budge it.  I decided to watch a film to relax.   I feel like I made the right choice.  "13 Tzemati" was the film I chose.  It's a weird French film, black and white, subtitles, I like foreign films.  I only made it 20 minutes and fell asleep.  I'm going to try and finish the film this evening.  I liked the first 20 minutes.   If you like weird films, and there are some really fucking weird ones on this site (I don't watch the really weird ones anymore), MUBI is a good streaming site.  They always have a good selection.  Films from Sundance and Cannes, Oscar-nominated films, a good selection from the avante garde and independent cinema.  Last year, they did an entire month of kung fu and samurai films and it was pretty great.  I watched "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" and a few other ku...

Pick Result: "Doozie" Two-Team Parlay - LOSS

MIN 6 - CHW 4 White Sox got out to a 3-0 lead early but it wasn't enough tonight.  Davis Martin didn't have his best stuff, allowed 10 hits and six earned runs in 4.2 innings.  A walk and five hits in the third led to four runs.  The batted ball luck didn't go our way tonight.   Martin's Line:  4.2IP 10H 6ER -- 2K 3BB Credit Minnesota's bullpen with the win tonight.  White Sox collected three hits in the top of the seventh to make it a 6-4 ball game, 1st and 3rd with nobody out.  Andrew Morris struck out two.  Anthony Banda struck out Sam Antonacci with the bases loaded to end the threat.  It's a tough loss.  Betting on the White Sox is always a bad proposition.  I took the bait on Martin, who has pitched well this season, and came up empty. SEA 8 - NYM 3 (8th inning) Mariners are up big late.  Logan Gilbert gave up a pair of home runs but racked eight strike outs.  Gilbert had a good start and should be in line for a...

Today's Pick: "Doozie" Two-Team Parlay (+200)

I'm tempted to stack the Brewers and the Yankees on this doozie but the two-team parlay looks nice at (+200).  This doozie is all I got today.  You can always break out the word doozie for a good laugh but you can't overuse it.    Two games look good tonight. CHW (-125) ML @ MIN I'm not thrilled by the prospect of betting on the White Sox, especially without Munetaka Murakami in the lineup.  The pitching matchup this evening looks too good to pass on. Davis Martin (8-1) starts for Chicago.  Martin has firmly established himself as the White Sox ace.  He has been as good as any starter in MLB into June with 8 of his 11 starts on the season qualifying as quality starts (6.0 innings pitched, 3 earned runs or less).  His 2.00 ERA is well within the Top10 of all qualified starting pitchers this season.  If the AL Cy Young award were awarded this evening, Davis Martin has a 50/50 chance to win the award.  That's how good he has pitched this se...

Game Day: Tuesday, June 2nd

It's the top of the first inning in yesterday's Nationals versus Marlins' game from Nationals' Park in Washington DC.   Cade Cavalli walks Liam Hicks.  Otto Lopez collects a base-hit.  Kyle Stowers lays down a sacrifice bunt, moving a pair of runners into scoring position.  Cavalli walks Xavier Edwards to load the bases with one out.   Cavalli nails Leo Jimenez on a 100 mph four seamer.  Swing and miss.  Two down. Owen Caissie steps into the batter's box.  Caissie is a left-handed hitter.  First pitch fastball, Caissie takes a strike.  When Cavalli gets ahead in the count, he likes to work his four-seamer up in the zone, especially against lefties.  He throws Caissie a pair of 98 mph heaters. Both pitches are well high for balls.  He misses with the knuckle curve and it's a 3-1 count.  On 3-1, Cavalli dials it back.  He commands his sinker better than the four-seamer and drops a 96 mph fastball on the inside...
