Game Day: Friday, June 5th

I saw on the Google news feed, Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs superstar, throwing out the first pitch at an MLB game the other day.

This guy is 7'6'' tall and he is on the sidelines smiling, talking to reporters and I'm anticipating the throw, you know, as a baseball fan.

The PA announcer calls him out for the first pitch.  Here comes Wembanyama.  He's laughing and smiling and I'm thinking he's going to whip the ball like Jon Rauch.  Wembanyama takes the ball, toes the mound, winds up and throws the ball like a fucking alien.  It was so bad.  I never seen anybody throw like that.  His throw will certainly go down as one of the weakest efforts of all-time.

I was amazed by it. World-class NBA basketball player can't throw a baseball.

I remember LeBron threw out the first pitch for the Dodgers or the Indians, and he threw the ball like a sissy too.  LeBron James, one of the greatest athletes of all time, can't throw a baseball.

You can't be the greatest of all time if you can't throw a baseball.

Michael Jordan was hitting bombs, stealing bases, flagging down fly balls in center field for the Birmingham Barons.  Jordan won three championships, took a season off, played AA baseball, returned to the NBA and won three more championships.  If Jordan doesn't take a season off, he very likely would have won eight consecutive NBA championships.  I read somewhere that there were a few coaches that said Jordan would have made it to the big leagues had he stuck with it.

LeBron, Wemby they can knock down three-point shots all day long but they can't throw a baseball.

Wemby's first pitch is an all-time classic if you haven't seen it.

It's Friday, the Yankees and the Red Sox open a three-game series in the Bronx and the Knicks are hosting the Spurs in the NBA finals.  It doesn't get any bigger. New York is on fire this weekend.

That's it for Game Day on this Friday.  It's almost summer time proper, June 21st is the first day of summer.  Three more weeks of spring.

Pickstreak has lost four bets in a row.  Our losing streak isn't quite as bad as Wemby's throw but it's been a tough run of losses.  A win would be nice. Back later this afternoon with Today's Pick.
