Today's Pick: TBR (-125) ML @ KCR

The Rays have won seven games in a row.  They have been better than every team in the AL.  It's been winning baseball that is hard to pinpoint in the numbers.  The Rays are five games better than their Pythagorean Win / Loss projection.  It's the largest differential in MLB.  It says that this Tampa team has won five more games than their statistical performance gives them credit for.

They have a knack for winning games and it comes down to a good clubhouse and a good manager.  A team that is playing fundamental baseball with a real tenacity.  Playing loose and playing to win.

Ian Seymour (4-1) with a 4.32 ERA in 50.0 innings this season starts for the Rays.

Stephen Kolek (4-2) with a 4.15 ERA in 52.0 innings starts for Kansas City.

Looks like a 50/50 in the start but I like Seymour tonight.  He is working on the back of 6.2 innings of no-hit baseball.  He racked seven strikeouts in that start and got the win.

Kolek got shelled in his last start.  Nine hits and nine earned runs in 1.2 innings of work.  A loss is a loss but that was a piledriver, off the top rope, flying elbow.  Cardinals did him like Jimmy Snuka.  That game was also at Kauffman Stadium.  When Kolek takes the mound tonight, he might very well have a few flashbacks of "the Superfly" and the shallacking he took last week.

The Royals are out of contention and celebrating the holiday all month long.  It's good to be out of contention.  Let the good times roll.

Rays have a slight edge in the bullpens but have all the momentum.  I'm playing the streaks this week and like the price (-125) on MLB's hottest team.  I'm betting on Tampa to make it eight in a row.  Sweep 'em up.
