Today's Pick: "Skubal's Game" Two-Team Parlay (+143)

Big night of games.  I'm betting on Skubal and the Tigers tonight and packaging it up with the Chicago White Sox for a (+143) payday.  

DET (-270) ML @ KCR

The line on this game is way out there at (-270) with Tarik Skubal (6-5) on the mound for the Tigers and Bobby Witt Jr. out of the lineup for the Kansas City Royals.

Skubal has been his best self since returning from the IR in June, posting a 1.59 ERA in three July starts along with an outstanding 7.67 K/BB ratio.  He is still MLB's best starting pitcher.  

Rookie Beck Way (1-0) opens for Kansas City.  He has pitched out of KC's bullpen since the beginning of June and isn't stretched out to pitch more than an inning or two.  Noah Cameron (5-8) is likely to pick up the bulk innings tonight and he has been fair game in July. 

Gleybar Torres is back in the lineup for the Tigers.  He could help to spark an anemic Tigers' offense.  The Tigers' don't have the greatest lineup in baseball and the bullpen is a wreck but this team has been winning games.

I'm taking the Tigers to win this game and am going to parlay this bet to get some juice on the long odds.

CHW (-130) ML vs. HOU

Davis Martin (9-5) starts for Chicago.  Over his last5 Martin has posted a 3.36 ERA and that's fairly inline with his season numbers.  He was sharp in his last start against the Blue Jays on July 18th (5.2IP 4H 1ER 5K 2BB) and that bodes well.  Davis is working on the back of a win in a home start tonight.  He has been tough to beat at Rate Field this season.

Spencer Arrighetti (7-5) gave up eight earned runs in his last start on July 8th, a road game in Washington.  He hasn't pitched all that well away from Houston.  In nine road starts this season, Arrighetti carries a 5.52 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP.  33 walks in 45.2 innings tells the story.  He has been wildly inconsistent this season.

The White Sox have an edge in the starting pitching matchup and I like their offense a lot better than the Astros.  The Astros have some good hitters at the top but they are soft five through nine. 

White Sox had the day off yesterday, their bullpen is well-rested and it's nice to play a home game after a day of rest.  

I like the White Sox tonight and I like the price at (-130).

Two AL Central teams tonight on my ticket.  AL Central is playing well.  A win into the weekend would be nice.

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. I picked the game I liked the most, it was the heaviest favorite on the board outside of the Orioles and the pitching matchup, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Postgame Report: MIL (-130) Winner

The Brewers kept it rolling last night, winning their fifth game in a row with a 7-2 victory over the Braves.   Joey Wentz cruised through the first two innings.  He had three K's and retired six in a row.   Brewer's center fielder Blake Perkins led off the third with a base hit.  Danny Jansen flew out to right.  Perkins stole second base.  Nine hole hitter Joey Ortiz put the ball in the gap and recorded an infield single that moved the runner to third.  Leadoff hitter Caleb Durbin walked to load the bases.   Bases loaded with one out.   Joey Wentz got a shallow fly ball from William Contreras.  Two down with Christian Yellich at the plate.  He got ahead 0-2 on Yellich and made a good pitch with the curveball but the veteran didn't chase.  Yellich collected an RBI on an infield hit that scored Perkins from third.  It's a 1-0 game.  Andrew Vaughn at the plate.  Wentz got ahead of Vaughn 0-2 and...
