New York looks to make it three in a row over the Chicago White Sox with rookie ace and Cy Young favorite Cam Schlittler (10-6) on the mound for the Yankees.
Schlittler has been strong all season. He carries a 2.04 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP into tonight's game and those marks have been posted over a large sample size. The rookie has pitched 130.1 innings this season and has shown no signs of tiring out into August. If Schlitter finishes the season strong into October pitching as well as he has, his season could go down as potentially the single best rookie season for an MLB starting pitcher in the history of the game. That is impressive.
Davis Martin (9-5) starts for Chicago. Martin was easily the White Sox best pitcher over the first half of the season but has since slid to the three in the White Sox current five-man rotation. Erick Fedde has eclisped him. It's been some good games mixed in with some real honkers. A 5.68 ERA in 25.1 innings in June. A 6.00 ERA in 18.0 innings in July. That is the pitcher Martin has been.
Martin is capable of throwing six scoreless tonight against a Yankees' team that is without both Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger and that is a big reason that I racked two units from the sportsbook account after last night's win. Taking some of our winnings off the table made this an easy bet.
I like the Yankees and Schlittler tonight and the price at (-145) is nice on the rookie ace.
