Pick Result: "In Lieu of Bubba" Two-Team Parlay - LOSS

Bubba and the Pirates lost 8-0 and so did our parlay bet.  Both options were losing propositions last night.  

Red Sox laid an egg when starter Connelly Early exited the game in the fourth inning.  Early is heading to the IR and Boston is dealt another blow.  

The 8-1 loss to the Nationals should be their biggest concern.  The Red Sox were in that game into the seventh inning.  Tommy Kahnle musn't have gotten his fair share of the momentum. 

As it goes, Kahnle allows four earned runs and the Red Sox bats couldn't connect.  The winning streak ends at five games in Boston.

Credit Nationals' starter Cade Cavalli for the win last night.  Cavalli pitched an excellent game.

Losing Early isn't the end of the season for Boston.  Brayan Bello will likely return.  Patrick Sandoval is close.  Crochet will be back and Johan Oviedo could also return for this team in August but Boston has no meddle.  They are a soft group and that showed out last night.  

It was a big opportunity for the Pickstreak Blog to post a big win and rack a big gain.  Another loss on a big bet.  It was a tough loss.  

I was adament last night about following through on my efforts from last week.  In betting on Boston and Miami, I was relying on what I felt was an advantage inherent to the work that I had put in.  I didn't get paid off last night.  

Rockies win 14-3 and the Marlins have a six-game winning streak into Tuesday.  Liam Hicks is back in the lineup. Griffin Conine and Javier Sanoja are on fire and the Marlins as a team connected for 21 hits last night.  Everybody in the starting lineup had a hit except for Jakob Marsee.  Marsee should be sent down to AAA soon.  He hasn't hit the ball at all this season.  

The Marlins should be buyers at the trade deadline.  This team might be the best team in the NL East despite trading away Ryan Weathers and Edward Cabrera and in some way, if Peter Bendix adds a pair of starters and a bat at the trade deadline, and this Marlin team makes the playoffs, he will, in the end, look like a mad genius.  

I still contend that the Marlin team that had an opportunity to win the World Series was the team with Edward Cabrera and Ryan Weathers in the rotation and that this surge is merely a ruse and a wrench in Bendix' plans to trade Sandy Alcantara at the trade deadline.  

You won't see me standing in front of the freight train.  I will let that train pass on by.  The Marlins as a team.  They can win the NL East.  

At the end of this reflection, it is a dissappointing loss.  At the end of it all, a lesson.  You have to take every new day at face value.  I didn't go through all of my reads last night.  I went deep to the hot hand and got picked off.

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Postgame Report: MIL (-130) Winner

The Brewers kept it rolling last night, winning their fifth game in a row with a 7-2 victory over the Braves.   Joey Wentz cruised through the first two innings.  He had three K's and retired six in a row.   Brewer's center fielder Blake Perkins led off the third with a base hit.  Danny Jansen flew out to right.  Perkins stole second base.  Nine hole hitter Joey Ortiz put the ball in the gap and recorded an infield single that moved the runner to third.  Leadoff hitter Caleb Durbin walked to load the bases.   Bases loaded with one out.   Joey Wentz got a shallow fly ball from William Contreras.  Two down with Christian Yellich at the plate.  He got ahead 0-2 on Yellich and made a good pitch with the curveball but the veteran didn't chase.  Yellich collected an RBI on an infield hit that scored Perkins from third.  It's a 1-0 game.  Andrew Vaughn at the plate.  Wentz got ahead of Vaughn 0-2 and...
