Pick Result: "Double It" Two-Team Parlay - LOSS
Double or nothing looks like we got the nothing. It's a loss for the Pickstreak Blog last night.
Jacob DeGrom had a good start for Texas. DeGrom completed five innings, only allowed two earned runs and racked seven strikeouts. With a well rested bullpen, Rangers' manager Skip Schumaker, pulled his ace after only 80 pitches. It was a 2-2 ballgame into the sixth inning. It didn't make any sense to me but the report is some sort of hip and knee injury. DeGrom down-played the issue and is expected to start on Sunday, the last day of games before the All-Star break.
Fortunately, for Skip and the Rangers, the offense came through with five runs in the eighth and the decision to pull DeGrom was inconsequential all around.
At the end of play, it's an 8-3 Rangers' win. Sam Bachman takes the loss for the Halos. Five earned runs charged to Bachman. Angels' bullpen takes a hit last night.
It's a win on the front-end of our two-team parlay bet and we are looking good in the night cap.
Wrobleski aced his start with 7.0 innings of one-run baseball. Nine strikeouts for Wrobleski last night. Dodgers' have a 3-1 lead into the eighth inning.
Will Klein gets the call in the eighth and walks the leadoff hitter. Always a bad way to start an inning. A base hit and a pair of errors charged to the Dodger's infield and the Rockies score three. 4-3 Colorado.
The ball off the bat of Tyler Freeman was a rope and that was a tough play for Dodger's shortstop, Miguel Rojas. That play could have been ruled a base hit. It wasn't a bad play, Rojas couldn't pick it and the ball got through the infield, scoring the runner from second base.
First and third with one out, McCarthy's bunt was dropped down perfectly, one run scores on that play. The throwing error charged to Freeland was made after the run scored. It was entirely a bad attempt to throw out Tyler Freeman as he advanced to third base. Alex Feeland threw the ball into.the dugout and Freeman was granted home plate by the third base umpire.
Scoring decisions aside, three runs cross the plate and the Rockies' bullpen holds for a 4-3 Colorado win. Jordan Romano picks up his sixth save of the season.
Credit to Rockies' starter, Michael Lorenzen. Lorenzen got the Rockies six innings last night and kept Colorado in this game.
It's a tough way to lose our parlay bet but we'll take the loss in stride. It's a new day of games and there looks to be more than a few good matchups on the card tonight.
