MLB Pickstreak's Mid-Summer Fundraiser

It's the All-Star break.  Around 75 game days left on the schedule.  

The MLB season is long and there aren't many days off.

We started the second season of the MLB Pickstreak way back on March 30th!  Around 200 posts later we are in the middle of July, the heart of the summer and Im getting ready to go on a long hike.

I have enjoyed writing the blog this season.  It is sort of like community radio.  If you listen to local radio, you are certainly familiar with their fundraisers.  They are annoying and awful but a necessity I imagine.

In the days of Substack who writes on Blogger?  

I almost went that route but I stayed with the Blogger because it was less wanton.  I do, however, like wontons.  

Monetization was never the goal.  The goal was to play the bookies game and beat the bookies.  I don't have any money.  I play hypothetical wagers.  I play to test my ability and for the challenge of it all.  It is a very challenging game, playing the sportsbook.  To play everyday and to post a winning season, it's about more than the money to me. 

The writing part has been truly enjoyable.  I have taken a lot of personal satisfaction in writing the articles and in completing the work.  It is, in a way, creating.  I have created 200 articles for the audience to read this season.  I put everything I got into the work as a fan of MLB.

I hope you, the audience, have enjoyed my contribution.  I am grateful for the ability and the opportunity to work at this.  The work in itself is a great reward.

The fundraiser isn't imperative, I make this all work with or without a dollar in my pocket.  

There is no need but any sort of donation you can offer goes to beers at the end of a long day or at the beginning of a new day.  Laundry days and clean clothes.  A container of hot shrimp lo mein.  A can of chewing tobacco.  A bus ride.

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. I picked the game I liked the most, it was the heaviest favorite on the board outside of the Orioles and the pitching matchup, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Postgame Report: MIL (-130) Winner

The Brewers kept it rolling last night, winning their fifth game in a row with a 7-2 victory over the Braves.   Joey Wentz cruised through the first two innings.  He had three K's and retired six in a row.   Brewer's center fielder Blake Perkins led off the third with a base hit.  Danny Jansen flew out to right.  Perkins stole second base.  Nine hole hitter Joey Ortiz put the ball in the gap and recorded an infield single that moved the runner to third.  Leadoff hitter Caleb Durbin walked to load the bases.   Bases loaded with one out.   Joey Wentz got a shallow fly ball from William Contreras.  Two down with Christian Yellich at the plate.  He got ahead 0-2 on Yellich and made a good pitch with the curveball but the veteran didn't chase.  Yellich collected an RBI on an infield hit that scored Perkins from third.  It's a 1-0 game.  Andrew Vaughn at the plate.  Wentz got ahead of Vaughn 0-2 and...
