Today's Pick: "Perseverance" Three-Team Parlay (+302)

It was a long day.  I don't have much in the tank but I do like three games tonight and I have to persevere.

Here are my picks for this evening:

TBR (-190) ML vs.KCR

Lefty Shane McClanahan (6-4) starts for Tampa.  McClanahan has regressed some over his Last3 starts after a scorching hot May and there is some concern with McClanahan in this start tonight but I don't believe his struggles are related to any sort of injury-related issues.  He was throwing 97mph when he was pulled from his last start on June 17th. It was McClanahan's third rocky start in a row and he is likely frustrated but he's healthy and will be game.  It's a good opportunity for McClanahan to get it back on track.  Bobby Witt Jr. is out of the game with a sprained knee.  Maikel Garcia is also out of the Royals' lineup with an injured hand.  McClanahan is lefty lefty on Caglionone, Jensen, Massey and Misener.  It's a good matchup tonight.

Rays play well at the Trop in St. Petersburg.  They are 26-10 at home this season.  Bullpen looks to be in good shape.

Luinder Avila (2-3) starts for KC.  Avila issues a lot of walks and the Rays are a contact hitting team.  They will take a walk and play small ball.  Royals' bullpen has thrown 150+ pitches in their Last2 (Sunday and Monday) games.  I like Tampa tonight.

It's a 5:40 PM CDT start at the Trop in St. Petersburg, FL

MIA (-160) ML vs. TEX

Miami along with Tampa and the New York Yankees leads MLB with 26 home wins.  The Marlins have won eight in a row at Loan Depot Park in Miami, FL.  The Fish play well in South Florida.

Sandy Alcantara (7-4) starts for Miami.  Alcantara hasn't blown the doors off many starts this season but he is consistently getting the Marlins 6.0 innings almost every start out.  He's posted a 2.89 ERA in four starts in June along with an 8.33 K/BB ratio.  He's been effective and has for the most part pitched better at home this season.  Miami's bullpen has been relied on heavily.  They are down a pair of starters and throwing bullpen games every fourth day but it looks like Bachar, Bender and Fairbanks could all be available to pitch.  Let's hope Sandy is in a good mood and has his A game tonight.  If he does, this should be a win for Miami.

Cal Quantrill (3-0) starts for Texas.  Most of Quantrill's work this season has come in long relief and he's pitched fairly well, posting a 3.68 ERA in 29.1 innings of work.  Quantrill has been roughed up in his Last2 appearances.  Three hits, a walk and three earned runs in 0.2IP on June 16th and four hits, a dinger and two earned runs in 2.0IP on June 18th.  Quantrill can be scored on and the Rangers' bullpen has been worked:  70+ pitches on Saturday, 38 pitches on Sunday, 70+ pitches on Monday.  Latz is likely unavailable as is Jakob Junis.

No Corey Seager is always an advantage when you bet against the Rangers and he is out of the lineup tonight.  I like Miami to get a win.

It's a 5:40 PM CDT start at Loan Depot park in Miami, FL.

BOS (-165) ML @ COL

Sonny Gray (8-1) starts for Boston.  Gray is upset about Boston's poor play and has been outspoken in the media regarding his no-trade clause.  He is a viable trade chip if Boston were to cash in their chips in July and they might but they aren't out of contention yet.  This is a big game for Gray after his outburst earlier this week, he has to step up if he is to be this team's leader.  He's the right guy for the job.  Gray has pitched with some determination this season and he seems to have a strong desire to win at the age of 37. The strikeouts are down but he still has the stuff to rack 'em up.  I like Gray tonight.

Sean Sullivan (0-1) gets the start for Colorado.  The Cubs bombed him for nine hits, a pair of long balls and eight earned runs in his last start.  He only has 7.0 innings under his belt this season.  He is as green as it gets.

Rockies bullpen has some arms tonight and the Rockies can hit the ball.  Moniak is back in the lineup and Moniak has some good power.

It shouldn't be a 50/50 game in any regard.  There is no way anybody in their right mind is betting on Sean Sullivan tonight.  That's not to say that Sullivan can't pitch.  He pitched at Wake Forest and dominated the ACC in '23 and has had success across three levels in MiLB but he couldn't solve PCL and his first MLB start last week did not go well.

I like Sonny Gray to get past this Colorado team tonight with six innings.  Boston's bullpen is in good shape with Slaten, Weissert, Whitlock and Chapman all available to pitch.

I'm taking the Red Sox on the road tonight.  It's a 7:40 PM CDT start from Coors Field in Denver, CO.

Package that up, it's a three team parlay that pays (+302).  I like my pitchers tonight.  I like my bullpens.  I like this bet.  Let's run it.
