Today's Pick: NYY (-180) ML vs. CHW
The clouds and the rain have taken a break. There is only one game I like tonight and that is the Yanks at home versus the Chicago White Sox. I don't like the price but I like Rodon at home and if I can add some juice to tomorrow's pick it will be a nice win.
Carlos Rodon (2-2) starts for the Yankees. Rodon has held opponents to a miniscule slash line of .132/.250/.184 at Yankee Stadium this season. This guy loves pitching in the Bronx. He hasn't done his best work yet this season. Rodon has only thrown 33.0 innings since returning from arthroscopic surgery but looks to be fully healthy and it is just a matter of time before he get really gets it rolling. When he is on his game he is one of the best left-handed starters in all of MLB.
Lefty Anthony Kay (6-1) has been strong for Chicago after a slow start in March / April. He has shut left-handed bats down and the Yanks' lineup leans lefty-heavy with Judge and Stanton on the IR. It looks like a good matchup for Kay but the Yankees lefties are somewhat deceiving. Cody Bellinger hits left-handed pitching and so does Ben Rice. Paul Goldschmidt demolishes lefties. I'd expect Max Schuemann and Anthony Volpe to be in the lineup tonight. The Yanks can put some hits on the lefty Kay.
Both bullpens are well rested and that is a concern because the White Sox might have a stronger group than the Yankees. The price is too high on this game at (-180), the White Sox aren't getting any credit and I'm definitely getting the worst of it in regards to the odds but I like Rodon at home, he is always a good bet at Yankee Stadium. This bet is on Rodon going 7.0 innings tonight and shutting down the White Sox offense.
