Today's Pick: NYY (-170) ML vs. CHW

We got a win on a straight wager yesterday and carry over 1.56 units into today's action.

I'm going to run the same play tonight, Yanks over the White Sox and I'll tell you why.

Bryan Hudson (3-2) opens the game for the White Sox.  I don't see the logic in this.  Hudson hasn't recorded a strikeout since May 31st and left-handed hitters are raking against him this season.  Ben Rice is one of the best left-handed hitters in the league this season and if there is a right-handed hitter in the game that can solve Hudson, it's Paul Goldschmidt.  Cody Bellinger rakes against left-handed pitchers. Sean Burke (3-4) is set to get the bulk innings for Chicago.  He has issued 15 walks in last 25.1 innings and has given up a pair of home runs in each of his Last2 starts.  I like the Yankees to tee it up against Hudson and pour it on Burke tonight.  

Ryan Weathers (2-5) hasn't been great over his Last5 starts.  His surface stats don't look good.  He has pitched to a 6.49 ERA over his last 29.1 innings and has given up 2.78 HR/9 but he doesn't walk a lot of hitters and his WHIP is in check.  Weathers has at times been known to rack K's.  He struck out 10 against the A's on May 30th and the A's crank left-handed pitching.  I feel like Weathers has had some tough luck and that despite his ERA over his Last5 that Weathers is the better pitcher tonight.  His crux is right-handed power and the White Sox' lineup with Grichuk and Vargas at the top tonight has some hitters but no Sam Antonacci tonight.  Righty rookie slugger Junior Perez makes his first MLB start.  

If Randall Grichuk and Junior Perez beat me tonight, so be it but I think Will Venable is drinking the Kool-Aid.  Hudson opening this game doesn't make sense to me.  Antonacci out of the lineup is a big relief.  That guy can hit.  I like Weathers to get it rolling tonight and expect that Aaron Boone will have a close eye on him with a well-rested bullpen.  

I'm taking the Yanks at (-170) and am going to press it all for a one unit payday.  It's a risky bet, I had thought about taking the plus money on Chicago tonight and I can make a case for that too.  I feel like the value is with Chicago but the win is with the Yankees.

Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Postgame Report: NYY (-215) Winner

That's six wins in a row for the Pickstreak blog.  We crushed that pick into the upperdeck. Carlos Rodon had a great start in front of the New York crowd and the Yanks' bats scored nine runs and hit three homers.  Twins' starter Travis Adams was out of the game in the third.  Minnesota's bullpen gave up seven hits, seven walks and five earned.   The Yanks bullpen locked it down.  Yankees win 9-1. The Yankees were not a sure thing.  Rodon had two fairly bad starts coming into last night's contest.  The Yankees were 3-7 over their last ten and the Twins had played some good baseball.   Following the game closely everyday, you can pick up on some minutia that isn't necessarily in the stats or in the boxscores.   I feel like this series with the Twins is a turning point for the Yankees' season.  I think the Yanks are going to win some games in August with Luis Gil, Cam Schlittler and Will Warren all turning it up a notch....

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. I picked the game I liked the most, it was the heaviest favorite on the board outside of the Orioles and the pitching matchup, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. Mitchell Parker had a good game.  One thing I can't understand is why Rocco Baldelli stacked his lineup with righties to start the game.  I get that Parker is a lefty but if you look at his splits and you look at his pitch stats, you can see clearly that he gets outs against right handed hitters and gets mashed by lefties.   Baldelli left all three of his lefties on the bench tonight.  Both of the Twins switch hitters took at bats from the right hand side of the plate.  Eight righties in the Twins lineup tonight opened up Parker's game and he got the win.   I noticed it before the game started.  I should have taken the bet off but thought that Ryan and th...
