Today's Pick: "Desert Doubler" Two-Team Parlay
The Twins are hot, winners of four in a row, but they are no match for the Sonoran Desert in late June. I like the Diamondbacks tonight and I'm going to package it up with the Dodgers for a (+131) payday.
AZD (-170) ML vs. MIN
Michael Soroka (8-3) starts for Arizona. Soroka has earned his check this year posting a 3.11 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP over 81.0 innings. In his Last2 starts, the big righty has only allowed five hits and a pair of walks in 14.0 innings while averaging almost a strikeout an inning (8.36 K/9). He's gone six or more in seven of eight starts since the beginning of May. I like Soroka tonight.
Connor Prielipp (2-4) starts for Minnesota. Prielipp does a good job of keeping the ball in the ballpark but he has been scored on this season. He only managed two strikeouts in his last start against the Cardinals and he hasn't pitched on the road since May 27th. The White Sox bombed him for six earned in that game. He carries a 6.20 ERA this season away from the Target Center in Minneapolis.
There has been a lot of talks about trade deadline deals in Minnesota and they have been ugly. Minnesota has been labeled as a seller at the deadline and star-player Byron Buxton is all sorts of disgruntled about the team's unwillingness to rework his contract. It's been in the media this week and it could be a distraction tonight. Buxton might mail it in and that is a big advantage for AZ.
I really like this pick tonight. D'Backs bullpen is well-rested.
It's the Snakes and the Twins from Chase Field in a 8:45 PM CDT start.
LAD (-220) ML vs. BAL
Roki Sasaki (3-4) starts for LA. Sasaki had it going in May posting a 3.18 ERA over five starts. The Japanese import pitched the finest game of his MLB career on June 5th, holding the halos to two hits and zero earned over 7.0 innings, racking ten K's in a win for LA. The White Sox beat him in his last start and it looks bad, seven hits, seven earned but he pitched well into the fifth. All that damage came in one inning. He is a young pitcher, he got frustrated and the inning got away from him but I like Sasaki. He can rack strikeouts when he gets it going.
Rookie Trey Gibson (1-2) starts for Baltimore and he sports a 5.91 ERA on the season. Gibson is ripe for a barrage of runs. The Orioles have no other options as a result of a myriad of injuries to their rotation. He wasn't promoted due to his performance. He was promoted out of necessity.
The Dodgers are at home tonight versus a Baltimore team that has averaged just 2.2 runs per game over their Last5.
It would be a real shocker if LA didn't put some runs on Gibson. The O's bullpen is well rested and they could factor in but I like the Dodgers to get a win in this game tonight.
Package that up and it pays out plus money at (+131) and plus money is what we need to get ourselves out of the hole. We are currently down 20% on the season. A win would be nice heading into Saturday.
