Today's Pick: CLE (-125) ML @ TEX

With a four-game skid on our hands I'm going to play a straight wager tonight.  It's the only game on the schedule I really like.

CLE (-125) ML @ TEX

Parker Messick (6-1) starts for Cleveland.  Messick has emerged as Cleveland's ace this season and is neck and neck with Trey Yessavage for AL Rookie of the Year.  Messick has gotten outs and has been consistent.  The rookie has allowed two or less earned runs in 10 of his 12 starts this season.  His FIP (fielding independent pitching) is nearly a run higher than his ERA but a 3.05 FIP on the season still puts him in the Top20 of all qualified starters in MLB.

Kumar Rocker (2-5) starts for Texas.  Rocker has pitched well this season.  He blanked the Royals in his last start on May 30th and did the same to the Rockies in a start at Coors Field on May 19th but check his splits and he hasn't fared as well against left-handed hitters this season. The Guardians like to stack their lineup with left-handed bats.

Cleveland's bullpen has been good this season and is well-rested despite playing an afternoon game yesterday.  The team traveled from NYC, it's a long flight, they won't have much time to regroup and relax before tonight's game but I like Messick and I think Cleveland's lefty-stack can score on Rocker.  I like the price on the Guards at (-125) and expect them to take it to the BBQ Boys in Arlington tonight.  It's a 7:15 PM CDT first pitch from Globe Life Field.

If Pickstreak can win one game, we can snap our skid and we will have 1.80 units in play for Saturday's card.  I like the pick.  Let's see how it goes tonight.
