I followed most of the Pirates and Rockies game tonight.  It's fairly easy to sum up.  Tommy "Sugar" won the game.  Sugano moves his record to (8-4) on the season.

Sugano's Line:  6.0IP 4H 1ER 5K 0BB

Paul Skenes pitched a good game but once again, it wasn't good enough and Skenes is on the hook for the loss in this one.  I imagine he is pissed-off about it but what can you do?

Skenes' Line: 6.0IP 4H 2ER 8K 2BB

I feel like Skenes in some way.  I put in a good effort everyday and keep losing too.  What can you do about it?

I'm going to keep putting in the effort and if the season is a bust so be it.  You can't take the losses personally.

Do your best, win or lose.  Put in the time and the effort  everyday with the goal of completing the task.  Don't have any expectations on the outcomes of the games or the picks.  Enjoy the games as a pundit and a fan or find another pursuit.  

If you don't enjoy playing the game, then you won't survive the losses.  It shouldn't be disappointing to lose if you put in a good effort.  Don't second guess your picks, you made the right pick win or lose.  

No matter how you look back on a loss, there was a better route to take.  That wasn't the route you chose.  Don't beat yourself up about it.  Take the lesson from the loss and move on.

What did we learn tonight?  Paul Skenes is throwing the ball well.  Tommy "Sugar" can get you six innings.  Mlodzinski is pitching well in the Pirates' bullpen.  Jaden Hill has a big arm at the top of the Rockies' bullpen.  The Pirates offense can't be relied on to score runs.

Dodgers also lost tonight.  Both of our "Top Dogs" were outpitched and in all honesty, that is two aces getting worked over tonight by a pair of fours.  Sometimes the fours flop a set.  What can you do about it?  Take the loss and move on to the next pick.

Yamamoto wasn't at his best tonight.  He pitched 6.0 innings and records a quality start but it's Yamamoto on the hook for the loss tonight.

Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Postgame Report: NYY (-215) Winner

That's six wins in a row for the Pickstreak blog.  We crushed that pick into the upperdeck. Carlos Rodon had a great start in front of the New York crowd and the Yanks' bats scored nine runs and hit three homers.  Twins' starter Travis Adams was out of the game in the third.  Minnesota's bullpen gave up seven hits, seven walks and five earned.   The Yanks bullpen locked it down.  Yankees win 9-1. The Yankees were not a sure thing.  Rodon had two fairly bad starts coming into last night's contest.  The Yankees were 3-7 over their last ten and the Twins had played some good baseball.   Following the game closely everyday, you can pick up on some minutia that isn't necessarily in the stats or in the boxscores.   I feel like this series with the Twins is a turning point for the Yankees' season.  I think the Yanks are going to win some games in August with Luis Gil, Cam Schlittler and Will Warren all turning it up a notch....

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. I picked the game I liked the most, it was the heaviest favorite on the board outside of the Orioles and the pitching matchup, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. Mitchell Parker had a good game.  One thing I can't understand is why Rocco Baldelli stacked his lineup with righties to start the game.  I get that Parker is a lefty but if you look at his splits and you look at his pitch stats, you can see clearly that he gets outs against right handed hitters and gets mashed by lefties.   Baldelli left all three of his lefties on the bench tonight.  Both of the Twins switch hitters took at bats from the right hand side of the plate.  Eight righties in the Twins lineup tonight opened up Parker's game and he got the win.   I noticed it before the game started.  I should have taken the bet off but thought that Ryan and th...
