Pick Result: NYY (-170) ML vs. CHW - LOSS

It's a 5-1 White Sox win in the Bronx and a loss for the Pickstreak Blog.  I had a grandiose plan in place for Friday, Saturday and Sunday and carrying in the juice from a win last night would have been nice.

I'm pitching that plan in the bin and starting fresh today.

As far as last night's game in New York, the White Sox' pitchers won the game.

Bryan Hudson aced the open and Sean Burke aced the remaining 7.1 innings, racking 7 K's.  Burke only allowed one run on the night.  Only one walk last night for the White Sox hurler, it was an impressive start for Burke.  It will be interesting to see how he follows it up next week.

We did nail Ryan Weathers for a bounce-back.  Weathers only allowed three hits on the night.  Weathers also racked seven strikeouts and only allowed one earned run.  It was a good pitcher's duel and a fine game for the lefty.

The Yankees' bullpen takes the loss.  Their unit as a group allowed four earned runs and an effort like that is going to lose a lot of ball games.  The Yankees' bats didn't pick them up last night.  Again, credit to the White Sox pitchers for shutting down a good-hitting ball club.

The Yankees' bullpen isn't all that strong.  Weathers, Schmidt, LaGrange could all make an impact down the stretch and the Yanks are likely to add a bullpen arm or two at the trade deadline.

White Sox continue to play good baseball.  They have won games with their pitching.  They have won games with their offense.  They play good defense.  It's a good baseball team.  Murakami is back next week.  Kyle Teel is returning soon.  Austin Hays should be back at some point.  Three starters that will make that lineup pop.

If the White Sox add a pair of starters at the trade deadline and move Anthony Kay to the bullpen, this team has a real shot at winning the World Series.
