Game Day: Wednesday, June 24th

Baseball has been interrupted by the World Cup.  That is why there have been strange days off.  I think I'm going to take one too because there is rain in the forecast and I'm not going to have an opportunity to research the games.  

I haven't paid any attention to the soccer games.  Whose winning the tournament?  I hope it concludes soon. I never got into soccer.  I'm rooting for Canada.  Do they even play soccer?  I'm sure they play some soccer being that they are crazy about hockey.  It's a similar premise.  

I went to a professional soccer game in Chicago.  The Chicago Fire.  It was an awful time.  They cheered the entire game, for over ninety minutes, stomping on the bleachers, some of the fans had fireworks, I kid you not, they snuck fireworks into the game and lit them off.  There was a brief stoppage of play and then it all resumed when the smoke cleared.  I can't remember the score or any of the goals.  I could never get into soccer. 

The Cubs have been decimated.  Edward Cabrera and Ben Brown have both been placed on the IR.  It will be interesting to see how the Northsiders patch things up.  Im uncertain but it looked as if Cabrera's season could be over.  The cart on the field.  Whose left in that rotation?

Boyd, Assad, Imanaga, Taillion, Steele, Wicks -- this team is like a hydra.  

Padres lost Lucas Giolito.  They are better off in some way.  Giolito wasn't pitching well and the Padres will do well to get him out of the locker room.  I thought that was a bad addition to the team when they added Giolito at the end of May.  

It's a short of Game Day today.  There is a full slate of games but as I have mentioned, the weather prohibits me from putting in the research today.  My odor prohibits me from sitting indoors.

It's going to rain shortly and the weather report says cloudy and rainy all through the weekend.  I'm miserable about it.  The rain is really getting to me this year.

I have to go fill my water bottles up and prepare for the storms.  No pick today, I won't be online much until tomorrow.  That's all I got in me today.  It has been a difficult day and this is my best effort.

Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Postgame Report: NYY (-215) Winner

That's six wins in a row for the Pickstreak blog.  We crushed that pick into the upperdeck. Carlos Rodon had a great start in front of the New York crowd and the Yanks' bats scored nine runs and hit three homers.  Twins' starter Travis Adams was out of the game in the third.  Minnesota's bullpen gave up seven hits, seven walks and five earned.   The Yanks bullpen locked it down.  Yankees win 9-1. The Yankees were not a sure thing.  Rodon had two fairly bad starts coming into last night's contest.  The Yankees were 3-7 over their last ten and the Twins had played some good baseball.   Following the game closely everyday, you can pick up on some minutia that isn't necessarily in the stats or in the boxscores.   I feel like this series with the Twins is a turning point for the Yankees' season.  I think the Yanks are going to win some games in August with Luis Gil, Cam Schlittler and Will Warren all turning it up a notch....

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. I picked the game I liked the most, it was the heaviest favorite on the board outside of the Orioles and the pitching matchup, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. Mitchell Parker had a good game.  One thing I can't understand is why Rocco Baldelli stacked his lineup with righties to start the game.  I get that Parker is a lefty but if you look at his splits and you look at his pitch stats, you can see clearly that he gets outs against right handed hitters and gets mashed by lefties.   Baldelli left all three of his lefties on the bench tonight.  Both of the Twins switch hitters took at bats from the right hand side of the plate.  Eight righties in the Twins lineup tonight opened up Parker's game and he got the win.   I noticed it before the game started.  I should have taken the bet off but thought that Ryan and th...
