Game Day: Monday, June 1st

I had some landscaping to do around my camp, it's looking good.  Busy most of the morning and am getting a late start on the baseball but better late than never?  Right?  That's the sang, right?  Better late than never! 

Fortunately, for the Pickstreak blog, all the games today start in the evening.  Five hours till post time.

My exercise today, I'm going to pick a winner in every game on the schedule.  

Tigers (+135) at Rays

I have an affinity for Ty Madden who starts for the Tigers, Im not sure what it is exactly.  There is something special about the kid.  I like the Tigers in this game.

Marlins at Nationals (-140)

I feel like Alcantara can blow the doors off any team any time he decides to crank it up but again he isnt going to give his all for a Marlins team that hasn't reworked his contract.  Marlins bullpen is cooked.  Cade Cavalli has pitched well and the Nationals score runs.  I like the Nationals.

Royals at Reds (-190)

It's Chase Burns for the Reds thus evening.  He has been real good this season.  Royals have lost six in a row and are in the midst of a six-game road trip.

White Sox at Twins (-160)

It's Joe Ryan against the White Sox without Murakami in the lineup.  I like the Twins to win this game.

Giants (+130) at Brewers

Drohan has pitched well but hasn't fared well as a starter.  Giants scored 19 runs yesterday and Landon Roupp has been their best starting pitcher this season.  Giants can win this game.

Rangers at Cardinals (+105)

DeGrom gave another home run up in his last start and the Cardinals have some big boppers.  The Rangers' bullpen has been awful.  I'll take the Cardinals in this game.

Rockies at Angels (-200)

The Angels probably shouldn't be (-200) favorites against any team but they do have a big advantage in ghe starting piching matchup.  Kyle Freeland hasn't pitched well for the Rockies this season.

Dodgers (-165) at Arizona

Dodgers' rookies hit the ball in the last night's win.  Ryan Ward homered.  Alex Freeland had a pair of hits.  Their bullpen has been the best group all season and Emmett Sheehan has pitched well in the rotation.

Mets at Mariners (-130)

Mets travel east to west and it looks like the plan is to give bulk innings to Sean Manaea tonight.  That could be disastrous.  Emerson Hancock is a good pitcher.  He may be Seattle's best.

Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Postgame Report: NYY (-215) Winner

That's six wins in a row for the Pickstreak blog.  We crushed that pick into the upperdeck. Carlos Rodon had a great start in front of the New York crowd and the Yanks' bats scored nine runs and hit three homers.  Twins' starter Travis Adams was out of the game in the third.  Minnesota's bullpen gave up seven hits, seven walks and five earned.   The Yanks bullpen locked it down.  Yankees win 9-1. The Yankees were not a sure thing.  Rodon had two fairly bad starts coming into last night's contest.  The Yankees were 3-7 over their last ten and the Twins had played some good baseball.   Following the game closely everyday, you can pick up on some minutia that isn't necessarily in the stats or in the boxscores.   I feel like this series with the Twins is a turning point for the Yankees' season.  I think the Yanks are going to win some games in August with Luis Gil, Cam Schlittler and Will Warren all turning it up a notch....

Postgame Report: MIN -1.5 (-120) Loss

It's 8-2 in the eighth.  Twins lost this one.  Joe Ryan had a bad game.  I'm not looking into this one too far. I picked the game I liked the most, it was the heaviest favorite on the board outside of the Orioles and the pitching matchup, in my opinion, was as good as it gets. Mitchell Parker had a good game.  One thing I can't understand is why Rocco Baldelli stacked his lineup with righties to start the game.  I get that Parker is a lefty but if you look at his splits and you look at his pitch stats, you can see clearly that he gets outs against right handed hitters and gets mashed by lefties.   Baldelli left all three of his lefties on the bench tonight.  Both of the Twins switch hitters took at bats from the right hand side of the plate.  Eight righties in the Twins lineup tonight opened up Parker's game and he got the win.   I noticed it before the game started.  I should have taken the bet off but thought that Ryan and th...
