Today's Pick: "The Second Dimension" Parlay
What in the heck is the second dimension? Length and width. Add airspace (height) and time and you're in the fourth dimension.
Time is the key in the matrix. In Eternity, there is no time. There is only three dimensions. It seems less complex but it is infinitely more complex. Time is a fixture that keeps everything bound within a structure. Without time, there is no boundary.
I have a two-team parlay in the works today. I was prepared to run out a four-team parlay and take a shot at some of that fourth dimension loot but it isn't coming together. I liked the Phillies but it looks like a rain out. I liked the Twins but I don't have the time.
Game One: TEX (-150) ML @ LAA
Nathan Eovaldi (5-4) starts for the Rangers. Eovaldi has been on fire. He shut the Yankees down in back-to-back starts and blanked the Astros over seven innings in his last start on May 17th. He has racked 25 K's over his Last3 starts and has been good for seven innings in each. Eovaldi is pitching well and is a good bet tonight.
The Angels beat DeGrom up last night but Walbert Urena (1-4) doesn't impress me all that much. Urena sports a 2.70 ERA across 33.1 innings but his 5.13 BB/9 is going to catch up with him.
This game will likely feature Chase Silseth out of the Angels' bullpen. 6.88 BB/9 in 17.0 innings this season.
The Rangers' bats need all the help they can get and Urena and Silseth are just the pair to give it to them. I'd bet a bundle on this game if I had a winning streak on the line. As it sits, I only have 1.0 units in play and have to adhere to my risk management.
Game Two: A's (-110) ML @ SDP
JT Ginn (2-2) has the hot hand with a 1.29 ERA, a 0.82 WHIP and a 7.0 K/BB ratio over his Last3 starts. I'm buying into his emergence as a legitimate starter. If he isn't legitimate tonight, the A's should be able to hit with the Padres, who have hit like rhubarb pie this season. Padres are 30th in the league in batting average and 29th in the league in OPS.
Lucas Giolito (1-0) makes his second start of the season for San Diego. Giolito is the wild card in this one. He could flash brilliance, he could completely bomb. He isn't likely to throw more than 6.0 innings tonight and the Padres dropped Morejon, Rodriguez and Adam in last night's 7-3 victory.
A's bullpen isn't all that good or all that bad but they are well-rested heading into tonight's game and that is an advantage. I like Ginn and the A's bullpen tonight more than I like Giolito and the Padres' relief corps. The A's lefty-bats could summon Wandy and Yuki tonight and one of the two is likely to get blown up.
