Sunday MLB Recap: May 24th, 2026
The Sunday Recap has never been posted. I tried to work this concept out during the preseason and it never materialized but it is what Sunday's are about this season at MLB Pickstreak.
We are going to move forward on the Sunday Recap as a live beta project. A Sunday Recap will be posted in lieu of "Game Day" every Sunday. It might be early, it might be late, it's definitely a work in progress.
In time, it will be like the Sunday Newspaper of MLB Pickstreak. This season, it's more like a window flyer that somebody sticks on your windshield while you are parked at the grocery store.
Five picks this week. 0-2 on straight wagers. 0-3 on parlays.
The Rangers served us a pair of losses. DeGrom and Eovaldi both were defeated. The Rangers don't hit all that well. DeGrom is jailed until he posts a pair of quality starts.
The A's piled on handing us a goose egg of their own. Langeliers and Kurtz are crushing it but Soda, Rooker and Larry Butler are all out to excruciatingly slow starts for the A's this season. They certainly miss Jacob Wilson raking at the top. JT Ginn is still JT Ginn.
Robbie Ray got blown up and hung a loss on us. You can't count on the Giants to score runs but Robbie Ray had been reliable before that start. The bomb that Robbie Ray dropped this week lands him in the clink with DeGrom.
Tanner Bibee had a good start for us. Michael Wacha had a good start in a loss. Nolan McClean got shelled but had a "Get Out of Jail" free card in his pocket.
Aaron Nola, in our only winning pick this season, is also in jail after getting shelled by the Pirates.
As far as offenses go, I'm leary of KC, the A's, the Giants, the Mets and the Marlins but all teams are open and live.
Dodgers bullpen is legit. Padres, Braves, Rays, the White Sox bullpen has pitched well. Brewers bullpen had a good week. Guards bullpen had a good week. That's all off the top of my head. I didn't dig in on it.
I didn't have any good fortune last week but I feel like I put in a lot of work and put in the effort without "winging it". I am happy with each of the picks I made last week. I feel like I dug in and pulled out some nice advantages. The games didn't go my way, 0-5 on the week, and I'm okay with the losses as long as I am playing well and I feel like I had a really good week.
Rangers and Angels are the Sunday Night Game of the Week. It is a good pitching matchup. Reid Detmers has awful nimbers but is a better pitcher than his (1-5) record and 5.07 ERA indicates. It's Mackenzie Gore (3-4) for Texas. Halos play for the sweep. That makes it an exciting game.
Back tomorrow with a pick and a post.
