Pick Result: PHI (-170) ML - WIN
Phillies get the win tonight 6-3 over the A's.
Zach Wheeler pitched a good game. A's got a pair of timely hits early and Tyler Soderstrom took him deep, a solo shot in the top of the sixth. Three earned charged to Wheeler over 6.1 innings. He gets a no-decision but posts a quality start (6 innings, 3 earned runs or less).
The A's had a 3-2 lead into the seventh. Jack Perkins got blown up in the bottom of the eighth after striking out a pair in the seventh inning. A's should have kept him in the closer's role. Perkins gets the loss tonight.
Phillies' bullpen locked it down. Mayza, Alvarado, Kerkering and Keller combined for 2.2 innings, allowing only two hits and no earned runs. The three walks issued by the group will bite them down the line but tonight they eacape with no damage. Orion Kerkering gets the win and Brad Keller picks up his third save of the season.
It is interesting that Keller is being used as a closer. Success in the closer's role potentially eliminates him from being stretched out as a starter late in the season and I had thought that the Phillies' signed him as insurance for the rotation. Keller had been a starter early in his career.
It's a nice win for the Pickstreak. Wheeler is always a good bet.

I changed up the format of the Pick Result. From now on, instead of losting the lines in the report, Im going to highlight the best performances of the night in a section I call "Game Balls" - it's less work and keeps the Nightly Recap in play.
It took me about 20 minutes to write this post. Another ten minutes to review the post and make edits. The Nightly recap I figure is an hour of work, so two hours at the end of the night. It's about four hours of work daily to get all the posts researched, written and edited.
I also have to keep studied in my down time. Participating in the comments at MLB Trade Rumors is a full time job in its own right.
