Game Day: Saturday, May 16th -- Late Edition
I have had spotty internet service all day. I'm currently camping out near the local Walmart and pulling wifi from across a vast landscape of weeds and bushes. Sometimes the internet comes in nice and clear and at other times, it's shotty. Today, the internet, it was shotty all morning, and I wasn't going to fight with it.
There was a full slate of games tonight and there were some good bets. I had my eye on some winners (Philadelphia, Miami) and some losers (Texas, Seattle), there is no telling what the pick would have been had I been able to get my research in this morning.
As it sits, no pick today. I didn't get back to camp until late afternoon and the mosquitoes are swarming. I'm stuck in the tent and the internet is still not coming in well.
You will have to bear with me until I can relocate and find a good office to work from. Last season's office, a patch of gravel across from the hardware store, is no longer an option. I'm thinking about the possibility of Panera Bread, but my summer funk is too ripe to be posting up indoors all day.
It's not an issue, I'll get my posts and picks in on most days, but I'm not going to stress out about it if I can't get the wifi signal to work long enough to get the posts in for the day. If it's raining, like it was this morning, and I can't leave camp, it's basically a rain out of the Pickstreak. We are a very Spartan operation.
That's it for today. I'm going to dig into some boxscores tonight. I plan on getting up early and getting to a good wifi signal for a post and possibly a pick tomorrow.
White Sox win this afternoon. Davis Martin moves his record to 6-1. Cubs and Sox play for the Crosstown Belt tomorrow. It's a 1:10 PM CDT start from Rate Field.
