Game Day: May 22nd, 2026

For our new readers, let me reiterate the program here at MLB Pickstreak.  I do all my work in the field, literally.  I'm literally in a field right now connected to Walmart's wifi, working on an Obama phone.  It's a Motorola.

I try to keep it regular and consistent and have a fairly standard format.  Each day begins with a "Game Day" post recapping last night's games, the day ahead and the goings on in the worlds of baseball.  That post is followed by "Today's Pick".  I started the Pickstreak blog to track picks and results related to my baseball wagering game and my annual goal of beating the book over the course of an entire MLB season.  "Today's Pick" is a bet within the game.  It might be a straight wager, it might be a parlay.

I'm working on a method to compound wins in a way that produces the best expected value.  This season that has me betting more dogs and more parlays.  I'm not a statistician in a regression analysis or a smoothing sort of way.  I do all my math in my head, use estimates and fire my cannons without any sort of algorithms.  I do study the numbers earnestly.  Every day I'm digging in at Baseball Reference, Baseball Savant and Fangraphs, looking for an advantage.  I follow the boxscores and use what I consider to be a good sense for momentum and team morale in making picks that I think offer the best opportunity to produce wins.  My "system" is a work in progress.

This is the third season of picks.  The first season, my best season (+29 units), I posted on a Twitter account that has since been closed but you can review all my picks from last season (-7 units) here on the Pickstreak blog.

Every pick is followed by a "Pick Result" post.  I'll recap the games and the performances within the games that I bet.  In following the picks and the games in this way, I always get something from the bet, win or lose.

I do my best to edit my grammatical errors and any poor phrasing that encumbers the readability and comprehension of my posts but I am the writer, editor and tech department.  This is a solo operation and we are, what you could say, under-capitalized.  Truth is, I don't have a single dollar.  I have survived on less than $200 annually for the past three years.  Money that people have given to me without my having asked for it.  I have been living homeless for the past ten years of my life, living on welfare.  This past year I survived mostly on the donations to the Little Free Pantry and on dumpster diving.  My welfare was cut off in 2022.  I am a scavenger and a petty thief.  I take what I need from the stores, the barest of necessities, and never take or meddle with another's personal property.  I am not a con-artist or a "hustler".  I am not religious and am always on guard with those who are.  I live this way because of my faith in myself and in a God who cares for me more than he cares for you.  My God serves me and me only.  That is my belief and I have faith in that.  Everything else makes no sense to me and I have a strong disdain for faiths and opinions otherwise.  I share my beliefs mostly in defense of my beliefs that are continuously under attack in a world that "preaches" and "teaches" its' faith.  I don't truly enjoy sharing my faith with anybody.  Again, I only do so to defend myself from those who continuously preach their way to me, a way that I feel is in no way of my own heart.  I believe in my heart as the only good in my life and my existence on this Earth and I live everyday to defend it and keep it intact.  It is my truth.  I don't have anything to hide.  I am not guilty of any crimes or atrocities outside of the petty thefts, vagrancy and a myriad of trespassing violations.

All my "bets" are hypothetical.

It's a good day for baseball.  There are a few good series around the league today, most notably, Rays and Yankees from Yankee Stadium and Dodgers and Brewers from American Family Field in Milwaukee, WI.

Having lived in Tampa for a pair of seasons, I became a fan of both the Yanks and the Rays.  I'm leaning Yankees if only to corroborate my current "Power Rankings".  I have the Yankees at the top, #1, and the Rays at #12 despite having the best record in the AL.

I'm definitely rooting for the Brewers against Freddy Freeman and his pearly white toothy grin.  Freddy Freeman, all time great player, love Freddy Freeman for his game.  I am no fan of the Dodgers' despite their lovable nature with Mookie Betts, Freddy Freeman and Shohei Ohtani but I do like them for being that team with the big target on their chest in every series they play.  Somebody has to be the defending champs.  This Dodgers' team is one of the greatest defending champions of all-time in some sense, as a team that everyone is gunning for.

That's it for Game Day this Friday.  It's nearly lunch time.  I'm having another coffee.  I have two fresh bags of grinds that I pinched out of the ALDI store.  I blended a bag of Hazelnut together with a bag of Medium Roast Breakfast Blend and it's pretty good.  I'm almost certain the Breakfast Blend is white-labeled Starbuck's coffee.

Back later this afternoon with a pick.  Stay tuned.
