Game Day: May 15th, 2026
We are going live action with our picks as we work towards our goal of banking 50+ units before October.
The preseason was an exercise to get connected to the games and the odds. It is a nice way to get into the season without risking any losses. I tested a few new strategies and am happy with the outcome.
All the picks from here on in will be live action. I will update my stats along the way. I bought in for 1 unit to get the ball rolling.
A quick look at the slate of games today. 15 games on the schedule, all 30 teams are playing a weekend series.
It's that time of year. The Subway Series in New York has the Yanks in Flushing Meadows. Cam Schlittler (5-1) faces off with former Yankee closer Clay Holmes (4-3). Schlittler has been lights out for the Yankees this season but Clay Holmes has one of the best curveballs in all of baseball. Don't count the Mets out. The Mets have won three in a row and eight of twelve in May after a 10-21 start to the season. Mets are still in the race. Game starts at 6:15 PM CDT.
Cubs at White Sox is also on the schedule today. White Sox are winners of five in a row heading into the series with their Crosstown rivals. Sean Burke (2-3) faces off with Cubs defacto ace Edward Cabrera (3-1) in a 6:40 PM CDT game at Rate Field.
The Crosstown series continue with Dodgers and the Angels and the Giants and A's. Diamondbacks and the Rockies square off in a regional rivarly of sorts.
MLB is trying to matchup the teams with their most proximate geographic rival and if you get stuck without a dance partner, they just jam you together with whoever is left.
Padres and the Mariners got matched up like a pair of nerds at a square dance.
I am personally tired of the gimmick. It moves the needle ever so slightly but it isn't as fun as it used to be. I'm so loathsome of the Cubs anymore that it's depressing to have to face them without any significance other than some sort of fabricated Crosstown rivarly.
I think MLB needs expansion in a big way. I think the divisions should be realigned and that the Cubs and the Sox should be jammed into the same division. That would be a rivalry. The Mets and the Yanks should be in the same division too. I also think there should be more division games and less interleague play. Those games would be fire.
Pitchers hitting was exciting. The DH sucks. I'd get rid of it all together, across both leagues.
Back this afternoon with our first official pick of the season. I'm excited for the weekend. I really want to beat the bookies this season. It is what I set out to do this year, as much as I enjoy the writing part, beating the book is what I play for.
Lets see how it goes. Stay tuned.
