Game Day: Friday, May 8th -- Late Edition

It's a late start for the Pickstreak today.  We are still reeling from the Padres' loss.

Taking a quick look at the league leaders and the Top100 HR hitters, four homers and you make the cut.  Eight homers and you're amongst the Top30 in all of MLB.  Eleven homers and you're in the Top10.

The current Top10 list in home runs this season includes some big name players.

1.  Yankee Captain, Aaron Judge, leads the pack at 15.  No surprise there, Judge holds the all-time AL record with 62 homeruns in a season.

2.  Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami checks in at 14.  There were some questions about his ability to hit fastballs in MLB.  He has put the doubt on hold.

3.  Braves veteran Matt Olson is at 13.  Olson has 300 HRs in his career and at age 32 is a good bet for the 500 club.  Only 28 players in history have done it.

T4.  Kyle Schwarber signed for 5 years and 150M this off season as a DH.  He takes walks and hits dingers.

T4.  Yordan Alvarez has been one of the best hitters in MLB over his career.  When he is healthy he is a lock for 30+ longballs.

T4.  Ben Rice hit 27 homers in his first full season.  He is a legitimate slugger with a similar skill set as Matt Olson.

T7.  Mike Trout has 11 homers.  Trout's a first-ballot Hall of Famer with 415 career homers.  He has missed the equivalent of three full seasons due to injury and still has 415.  Great hitter.

T7.  Byron Buxton has tallied 11 homers as well.  He hit 35 homers in '25 in what was basically only his second full season at age 32.  This guy hasn't been able to stay healthy but when he is, he is one of MLB's best.

T7.  Shea Langeliers has been pouting about getting paid.  The A's catcher is hitting .338 with 11 dingers.  Pay the man.

T7.  Mickey Moniak closes out the top10.  He also has hit 11 bombs.  Moniak, a former first overall draft pick, is a late bloomer who struggled in his first few MLB seasons withe the Phillies and the Angels.  He has settled in nicely in Denver.

That's it for today.  I haven't looked much at the schedule.  There might be a pick in the late slate of games and if there is I'll post another Practice Pick before the sun sets.  If there isn't, I'm taking the rest of the night off.

Stay tuned.
