Pick Result: Braves Walk It Off In the Ninth (L)
Our parlay pick was a loser. The Braves walked it off in the ninth inning. Three outs away from a nice win. One swing of the bat from Matt Olson and what was moments ago a winning ticket is now confetti. It was a tough loss but it was a practice pick and it's still the preseason here at MLB Pickstreak.
I'm sort of struggling with getting my posts out in a timely manner and it is my goal to have my posts structured and posted with consistency.
I am having trouble staying up and working late. I am not a night owl. I am more of an early riser and early to bed sort. I have to get this all sorted out before I can start making official picks this season. As a result, I'm extending my preseason another week.
Below is a brief synopsis of what I am trying to accomplish with my post structures. I have given each post type an indentifier. Each post will also include a title.
Game Day: <post title>
The Game Day post will always be about the standings, league leaders, team trends and the current days matchups. My goal for this post is to write without doing much research other than a quick review of the schedule, the standings and the league leaders. In that way, this post will be off-the-cuff and original. The goal is to make it a light and easy read for baseball fans.
Today's Pick: <post title>
This will be the second post of the day. In this post, I'll post my pick of the day. I'm only making one pick a day. The bet could be a straight wager or it could be a parlay.
The format will remain the same but I am going to work on keeping these posts short. I like to write about the details on why I made the pick, the research is still essential to my picks and my posts, but I need to keep these posts short, both for the benefit of the reader and to keep my mental energy up into the afternoon.
Pick Result: <post title>
I am doing away with the postgame report. I did enjoy writing the postgame reports but they are getting in the way of my Nightly Recap. In the new format, the Pick Result will be a simple and quick post highlighting wins and losses for the MLB Pickstreak blog. I'll review Today's Pick and inform the reader on the result of the game.
I'd like to keep these posts as short as possible. My goal is post them as soon as the result is in. The postgame reports take a significant amount of energy and focus to write. If I am going to remain consistent with my posting schedule, I have to scrap the postgame report and create a new post that is shorter and easier to compose.
I haven't written one yet. Im going to try this post out this weekend and see how it goes.
Nightly Recap: <post title>
I still would like to post a Nightly Recap everyday as a daily article but I'm having trouble staying up late and working at night. My goal is to find a way to keep this post short, recaping the best performances of the day from pitchers and hitters around the league, as well as highlighting impressive team performances, team wins and losses and team trends.
I'm going to try and write this post every night at 9 PM and have it posted by 10PM. The late games won't be concluded but I can't stay up that late.
On occassion I may include a post from the following categories:
Minor League Report: <post title>
I do a lot of digging into the rosters of AAA/AA/A+/A-/RK league teams. If I dig up an interesting nugget, I want to have an outlet for it. The Minor League Report will be the post I use for any news related to minor league affiliates and prospects.
Team News: <post title>
For news items related to a specific MLB team, Ill use the Team News post. This could be details on a trade, a call-up of a prospect, or any other general news item related to a specific team.
League News: <post title>
For any news related to MLB or to KBO or Nippon or any of the other professional baseball leagues, I'll use a League News post.
All of these posts are random and aren't dailies. There is no set schedule for these posts but in having them defined and available, if there is a game, a perfomance or a piece of news that I'd like to write about, I'll have a way of including those posts without having the pressure of getting them out on schedule.
This is what I'm working on the rest of the preseason here at MLB Pickstreak. I put a lot of thought and effort into this. It isn't just a "wing-it" type of show.
Sometimes it is a "wing-it" type of show but most days it's a lot of effort and hard work.
Stay tuned.
