04/21 - Postgame Report: Poulin, Mikolas, Alvarez Combine For the Shutout
1-2 on my practice picks as the Nats beat the Giants 3-0 on Sunday. Robbie Ray pitched as well as one might have expected but the Giants bats fell asleep entirely. Credit Mikolas with a good game and rookie Andrew Alvarez pitched four innings of shut out baseball to earn the save.
I'm a day late with the Postgame Report and as such am not putting too much effort into this post because it is dragging behind me in some way.
For me, it is important to write these posts. The Today's Pick and the Postgame Report, they are both vital in keeping me tuned into the games and in my own headspace and, in a way, that is what is most important, win or lose, to be in my own process. It helps keep me aware and paces my wagering over the course of a long season.
It is a significant effort. Writing these posts is very difficult. The easier they read, they more simple they appear in structure, well that is very difficult to accomplish. Like Picasso in some way.
You have to be in the zone and part of that is staying regimented. If you fall behind, the stress will arise. I missed the Postgame Report, it should be posted as soon as the game is finished. If it is a late game, the post should be made before the following days' games begin.
Otherwise, I get backed up and when the stress starts to build even in the slightest way, it becomes very difficult to do the research, make the picks, write the posts, etc... and while that state of being isn't necessarily better or worse for picking winners, it does make coping with the losses significantly more difficult.
If you can't cope with the losses, you can't play the picks. For me, if you can't get the pre-game and post-game reports out in a timely manner, you can't play the picks.
This isnt a wing-it type of show as much as it may seem to be.
That is the postgame report for today. It's still the preseason for me, I figure I can take until May 1 and still have plenty of opportunities to string together a winning streak.
Stay tuned.
