MLB Pickstreak: Season 2

The '26 MLB season opened this week.  I've been following the rosters all off-season and the exhibition games this spring in preparation for another season of picks.  My goal once again is to have a winning season.  Last season, I won 60% of my bets but finished down seven units.

It is a challenging proposition to beat the book over the course of an entire season.  The house has an edge and it is almost impossible to game the odds.

This season, Im going to start with 50 units.  My goal is to make picks until each unit has been put into play, banking winners along the way.

I'll post my pregame analysis for every pick and a postgame report for each game that I bet.  I'm also going to try and include a nightly recap of the day's games, highlighting the best and worst performances around the league.

I plan to start making picks in April.  Over the next two weeks, I'll post some insight into the division races, my preseason selections for MVP, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year in each league as well as my pick to win the 2026 World Series.

The writing part is the work but writing the posts is also the caveat.  Win or lose, I'll have added another season of posts to the blog.

On a side note, I do care about people in some sense.  I don't care to absolve myself as a participant in sports gambling culture with some sort of statement about my picks being for entertainment.  MLB Pickstreak is for entertainment, both my own and for my audience but it is also a gambling venture and there are real risks that come with gambling.

I can't see the future.  I am no prognosticator.  There are no guarantees.  Some people play the lottery with faith and belief that they are going to win.  Some do.  Most don't.  I play the MLB picks to test my skills against the house odds.  I may win some seasons.  I may lose some seasons.  It's always a goal to be in the game next season.

This world and my life is a constant battle.  I have my own faith and my own outlook on it.  I dont believe it is a sin or amoral to risk money on a wager but it can be painful to lose.

I do this for my own peace of mind and because I enjoy the challenge.

Only risk what you can afford to lose and remember, even without a dollar in your pocket, you can still go to the store and stuff a beer or two down your shirt.
