Today's Pick: MIA (+105) over CLE

It's a big game for the Pickstreak blog.  Tonight we go for our seventh win in a row.  If we cash a ticket tonight, it will be our longest winning streak of the season.

I could try and hit a winner on some long odds.  Betting a heavy favorite, statistically, is the best way to ensuring that we continue our winning streak.  But I'm looking to rack some units and I like the price on the Marlins tonight.

Edward Cabrera (6-5) starts for Miami.  Cabrera is my favorite pitcher in MLB.  Mostly because he has flown under the radar and it's my belief that he has some of the best stuff of any starter in baseball.  He went 8.0 innings in his last start against Atlanta, allowed two hits and struck out 11.  Over his last five starts, Cabrera has a 0.89 WHIP and a 34/5 K to BB ratio.  That's Tarik Skubal territory.

Tanner Bibee starts for Cleveland.  Bibee entered the year as Cleveland's ace and he has had a good season but it isn't comparable to his breakout performance in '24.  Over his last five starts, he has posted an 5.63 ERA along with a 1.65 HR/9.

Bibee is a good pitcher, he could post a quality start tonight but if you ask me he seems to be wearing down and Cabrera seems to be peaking.  I'd say the starting pitching matchup entering tonight's game favors Miami.

The Marlins have been a better team offensively all season and rookie Jacob Marsee has been lighting it up since getting the call in early August.  He'll be in centerfield tonight.  Rookie Heribito Hernandez has also hit well for the Fish, posting a .489 SLG in 139 at bats.

Miami crushed Cleveland 13-4 in last night's game.  The big lead allowed Miami to conserve their bullpen and while Cleveland will have their top three high leverage arms well rested, they completely exhausted four relievers in last night's loss.  Miami will have Bachar, Bender, Faucher and Henriquez all available on a day's rest.

I like Miami tonight with Edward Cabrera on the bump.  I have 3.00 units in play and am going to press it all on the Fish at (+105) for a nice payday.
