Thursday, August 7th: No Pick Today

Most teams have the day off today.  There are only four games on the board.  I liked the Mariners alot but my plan with 5.36 units in play is to rack four units.  It leaves me with 1.36 units in play.  At (-300), a 1.36 unit wager would garner a .45 unit gain.  If the Mariners win.  It's not all that bad considering and I should have probably played that game but I have been perplexed about it all afternoon and decided to take a pass.

I also like the Marlins tonight.  Eury Perez starts against the Braves and Perez has been real good.  But the Marlins used all four of their best bullpen arms yesterday and will likely be relying on the back end of their bullpen for four innings.  Perez is returning from Tommy John and likely won't pitch more than five innings tonight.

There is a full slate of games tomorrow and there are a pair of games that caught my eye.

Tarik Skubal starts against the Angels.  The Angels strike out a lot.  They rely on the long ball too.  Comerica Park isn't a homerun hitters ballpark and Skubal doesn't give up that many homeruns.  It will be long odds on the Tigers but I might play that game.

I also like the Padres against Walker Buehler and the Red Sox but the Padres haven't announced their starting pitcher. The Padres bullpen will be well rested but they are short in the rotation.  They sent recent acquisition JP Sears to the minors.  I am uncertain how they will approach the start tomorrow.  Until they announce their starter, this game is on the back burner.

I might take a pass all together tomorrow and into the weekend.  The Brewers play a series with the Pirates.  The Mets play the Braves.  The Cardinals get the Rockies and the Rangers host the D'Backs.  All four series could offer us some good picks.

Stay tuned.  I could play the Tigers tomorrow and could find another game or two over the weekend.
