Postgame Report: MIL (-185) Winner

Brewers emerge victorious with a 7-1 defeat of the Pirates to make it ten wins in a row heading into tonight's games. 

Brewer's second baseman Brice Turang led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot that put Milwaukee up early.  It wasn't a good start to the game for Andrew  Heaney.  He loaded the bases with a base hit, a walk and a hits batsman before retiring the side.  1-0 Brewers.

The Brew Crew went deep again third.  Christian Yellich put a fastball over the center field wall for his 22nd homer of the season.  Then it was time for some of that classic Brewer's small ball.  First Baseman Andrew Vaughn got a base hit, 3B Caleb Durbin laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved Vaughn to second base. Right fielder Sal Frelick drove in a run with a base knock.  He advanced to second base on the throw to the plate.  A base hit from CF Brandon Lockridge scored Frelick.  Lockridge advanced to third on a base hit from shortstop Joey Ortiz.  Ortiz steals second, Pirates catcher Joey Bart throws it into center field, Lockridge scores. It's 5-1 Brewers after three innings.  

Vaughn laid down a sac squeeze in the fourth inning.  A squeeze bunt with a 5-1 lead in the fourth.  The bunt scored left fielder Issac Collins from third and moved the runner from first into scoring position.  That's good baseball.  The run made it 6-1 Brewers.  

With the early lead, Jose Quintana pitched his game and it was a doozy:  6.0IP 3H 1ER 3K 1BB -- Quintana may not rack up the strike outs but he can pitch.  Quintana recorded his 10th win of the season.  

The Brewers bullpen locked it down late.  Righty Grant Anderson pitched a pair of scoreless innings and recent acquisition Shelby Miller made his debut for the Brew Crew with a scoreless inning in the ninth.  

Six earned charged to Andrew Heaney.  He is overcooked and could use a month off.  Brewers would add a run in the sixth off the Pirates bullpen.

That's five wins in a row for the Pickstreak.  Our season long winning streak is six games.  We'll look to match it tonight.  I think I'll have a pick in later this afternoon.
