Postgame Report: CHC (-225) Winner / Let's Play Two

It was a close game but the Cubs pulled out a win 3-1 to even the series at one a piece heading into Sunday's game.

The Throwing Philosopher had a great start and got the Cubs into the eighth inning.  But the Cubs didn't hit today. Pirates' starter Mike Burrows and reliever Kyle Nicolas combined for seven innings of one run baseball and for the most part matched Imanaga inning for inning.  

It's a 1-1 game after seven.

Andrew Kittredge worked the eighth for Chicago and struck out a pair.  Kittredge has been a nice addition to the Cubs' bullpen and has taken over as Chicago's most trusted setup man.  He could be the closer soon enough if Palencia continues to struggle in the ninth.

Chicago scored a pair in the bottom half of the eighth inning and took a 3-1 lead into the top of the ninth.  Interestingly, they called on Brad Keller to close this game out.  Both Keller and Palencia pitched in last night's loss with Palencia taking the loss.  The fact that the Cubs went with Keller says a lot about their confidence in Palencia.  They don't have much confidence in him as a closer.  

Keller struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his first save of the season.  Keep in mind that Keller has three blown saves on the year.  He's been pitching good, is one of the best arms in the Cubs' bullpen, but he isn't necessarily the solution to the Cubs' issues in the ninth.  

The Cubs got the win, I cashed a ticket.  Back on my feet and looking to make it two in a row. 

I'm going to press my winnings on the Dodger's tonight.  

I'm not putting in a bunch of research on this one.  I'm cutting loose some and taking a free roll on the Dodger's.  If the Dodger's win, I'll add a small amount to my units in play and have a two game Pickstreak.  If they lose, I'll break even on the day and will still have one unit in play heading into Sunday.

This one is on Blake Snell.  It's Snell vs Cease tonight.  It should be a good game.

Today's Pick: CIN (-165) over MIA

Today's Pick: A 2 Team Parlay

I have 1.56 units in play after yesterday's quasi-disappointment.   I'm going to rack a unit, and play a two team parlay tonight.  I've been stuck on 32 units banked for two weeks now.   I can't stand the number 32.  It has everything to do with Magic Johnson.  I don't like magic and I don't like Johnson.   Anyhow, now that we have 33 units in the bank, I feel better. Jose Canseco wore number 33.  Still one of my favorite players of all time.   No analysis today, I'm just making a pick.  My season for the most part is over.  I have 0.56 units in play, 4.0 units in my account, and 33 units in the bank.   The pick is a parlay on the Astros (-350) ML / Blue Jays (-175) ML for a (+105) payout. Wednesday, August 6th: No Pick Today

No pick today, there isn't much on the board that I liked.  I didn't dig into any games but the Giants and the Pirates early this morning.  I liked the Giants but they don't hit left handed pitching all that well and Pirates had a well rested bullpen.  The Giants won that game 4-2.   I had thought about putting on my three dogs play with the Rangers, Reds and the Royals.  The Reds are down 6-0.  That would have been a loser.   There are some games later this afternoon and some late games too but I am going to take a pass on the action today and see if I can find a good spot tomorrow.   I'm sitting at 5.36 units in play and have a four game Pickstreak on the line.  We'll look to make it five in a row tomorrow.
