Tuesday, July 23rd: No Pick Today
I got a late start this morning and didn't get much of an opportunity to look ahead at the games yesterday. There were a number of early starts today and I have been feeling rushed because of it.
I missed the post time on the Reds game. I liked Lodolo against the Nats even as road favorites. Lodolo aced them with a complete game shut out. He only allowed four hits. Lodolo is en fuego.
The Tigers got cannonballed by the Pirates for the second day in a row. The Tigers are now 1-9 over their last ten. It seems they have let that big lead in the AL Central get to their head.
Royals took two of three from the Cubs. The Cubs lineup looks soft without Tucker and Amaya. Both were out of today's game. It was Carson Kelly hitting cleanup, Happ in the five hole, Reese McGuire hitting eighth at catcher and Matt Shaw hitting ninth at third base. Colin Rea got the start and gave up three homers and five earned runs.
Justin Verlander picked up his first win of the season today in a 9-3 Giants win over the Braves. Verlander entered today's game at 0-8. The win today was a big celebration for the Giants and the veteran. Willie Adames and Rafael Devers both had a good series at the plate. This could be the start of a winning streak for the G-Men. Two in a row, they'll look to make it three against the Mets on Friday.
No pick today. There are a few late games but I'm tired and calling it a day.
