Today's Pick: MIA (+120) over BAL

The Fish travel to Baltimore for one more series before the All-Star break.  It will be a four-day Miami vacation of sorts for the Marlins' players, except for Kyle Stowers.  He'll be representing the Marlins and the National League in Atlanta, GA, home of this year's all-star game.  "Somebody get Stowers a Greyhound ticket to Atlanta!"

Edward Cabrera, today's starter for the Marlins, could need to book a ticket on that bus to Atlanta too.  He's a viable replacement for any of the pitchers selected in the NL.  Cabrera has been real good this season, posting a 3.33 ERA in 78.1 innings pitched.  I watched some of his tape on YouTube.  This guy can throw.  Of all the established young aces in MLB, I'd say Cabrera has the potential to be as good as any of them.  As good as Skenes, as good as Brown, as good as Crochet.  The numbers might not tell it that way but as far as stuff goes, Cabrera has an arsenal.  He sits 97 mph with his four seamer and sinker and has a power change up, a plus curveball and a good slider to put hitters away.

Dean Kremer starts for the Orioles.  After a horrendous start to the season, Kremer pulled a 180° to the tune of a 3.00 ERA in 66.1 innings over the months of May and June.  Albeit, Kremer is Kremer:  4.1IP 8H 5ER 3K 1BB in his last start against the Braves.  He allowed a pair of homers in that one.

The Orioles played two yesterday against the Mets.  Two wins.  7-3 over their last ten.  But it's hot out there.  That's a long day in the sun.  They traded Bryan Baker to the Rays, were already down a bullpen arm because of it and threw all of their best relievers yesterday against the Mets.

The Marlins rested Stowers, Hicks and Sanchez yesterday, all three had a day off.  All three lefties match up well against the righty Kremer.  The Marlins bullpen has a few arms available with a days' rest.

It's plus money on the Marlins today.  I like the pitching matchup and think the Fish have a decided advantage in this one with the O's being short-handed in the bullpen and having played two yesterday.

With 2.94 units in play, I'm going to rack two and press 0.94 units on the Marlins at (+120).
