Postgame Report: Houston's Bullpen Holds for a 6-4 Win
With all the turmoil and chaos I have introduced a few wrinkles into my picks and blog posts and am hopefully in some way improving and evolving both as a picker and as a blogger.
The Astros held on 6-4 in a good game at Chavez Ravine stadium in LA.
Framber didn't have his best start but gets the win and moves his record to 10-4 on the season. Miguel Rojas was red hot out of the nine hole, had a double, a homer and drove in four but Valdez managed to get through six innings. Sousa, Abreu and Hader locked down the seventh, eighth and ninth, a tough task against the Dodgers. Their lineup doesn't have many weaknesses.
Dave Roberts pulled Rojas in the eighth for pinch hitter Michael Conforto to get lefty righty on Houston reliever Bryan Abreu. Astros Manager, Joe Espada, countered bringing in the lefty Josh Hader. Roberts ended up with Estuery Ruiz at the plate with two outs and two on. I think it was a bad call, pulling Rojas with the go ahead run at the plate, he was having a good game and has more power than Ruiz. Hader struck Ruiz out to end the eighth and retired the side in the ninth for his 25th save of the season.
Three good games today and a winning day despite the loss on the Yankees. The Yanks are struggling, make no doubt about it. Losing this series to the Mets will be a heavy weight on their carts heading into the all-star break. They'll look to avoid the sweep in game three of a three game series; it's a 12:40 CDT start at Citi Field tomorrow afternoon. Should be a good one.
