Pick Two: Four Picks?

I like a number of games tonight and am going to let loose somewhat in a play that could destroy my season.  If I lose all four games it could set me back to 1-6 in July and it will be an uphill climb the rest of the way.  If I win all four, I'll be 5-2 and it will still be an uphill climb the rest of the way.

That's what it is about mostly.  Putting some winning picks on the board and I like all four games tonight.

It's outside of the Pickstreak system and none of these picks are very well researched but I've decided to make the picks on my own instinct and live with the risk of failure.  Something is pulling me into making the play tonight, it's either self-destruction or a fortunate opportunity.  We'll find out which at the conclusion of today's games.  Here are the picks.

Pick One:  MIL (-130) over NYM

Jacob Misiorowski starts tonight for the Brewers.  Misiorowski has stolen a little bit of Paul Skenes' thunder with a four seamer that sits near 100 mph.  He'll face a Mets' team that is 3-7 over their last ten games including today's loss against in game one of a double header that concludes tonight at Citi Field in New York City.  The Brewers have been hot, winning eight of their last ten games.  Rookie Blade Tidwell starts for New York.  He hasn't pitched well in the majors this season and continues to get starts in a Mets' rotation that has been swamped by injuries.  This pick is on Misiorowksi getting the Brewers through five innings and on Tidwell continuing to be a AAA pitcher.

Pick Two:  CHC (-165) over CLE

Shota Imanaga returned last week for the Cubs and had a real good start.  Imanaga pitched 5.0 innings of one hit ball against the Cardinals last week.  He was the Cubs best pitcher last season and should be good to go against the Guardians.

Tanner Bibee starts for Cleveland.  He had a great '24 but hasn't been as effective in 2025.  His 3.90 ERA is respectable but he has a FIP that is half a run higher at 4.43 and he has allowed 1.4 HR/9 this season.  There isn't much wind today but the wind that there is will be blowing out to right center.  Cubs have a couple good lefties in there i  lineup.

Cleveland hasn't had a whole lot of offense this season.  They are 28th in MLB in batting average, 25th in runs scored, 21st in home runs.  Their bullpen is well rested and they have four really good relief pitchers.  The Cubs bullpen is well rested but uninspiring.  This pick is on Imanaga and the Cubs offense.

Pick Three:  HOU (-285) over COL

Hunter Brown (8-3) has been one of MLB's best starters through June posting a 1.74 ERA in 98.0 innings pitched this season.  He has only allowed 13 hits over his last 30.1 innings pitched.  He has big time strikeout stuff with a fastball that sits 97 mph and one of the league's best knuckle curve balls.

Veteran Austin Gomber starts for Colorado.  He isn't likely to throw six shut out innings and will more than likely relinquish a few runs before handing it over to the bullpen.

I like the Astros tonight.

Pick Four:  LAD (-325) over CHW

The Blue Ship sets sail with Captain Clayton Kershaw who starts tonight seeking his 3000th career strikeout.  The Dodgers will be up for this one but its Kershaw's game to win or lose.  Of course, he'd like to surpass the record at home in a victory.

Lefty Reliever Brandon Eisert starts for the White Sox.  It's a ploy to get starter Sean Burke in the game in the second inning.  Burke has pitched well this season after a slow start in April but the Dodgers are as stacked as any team in baseball and he'll be tested tonight.

I like the Dodgers to win this one.  It's a game that will be remembered win or lose for Kershaw, he is certain to get 3000 tonight, in what could be his last season in MLB.
