Today's Pick: PHI (-280) over COL

We are back to the picks after a stormy week here in the midwest that brought a lot of wind and rain.  The cool temperatures were nice but the rain has had me holed up for days.

I like the Phillies today, heavy favorites at (-280), over an 8-41 Colorado team.

The pick is predicated primarily on the fact that German Marquez has been about as bad as any starter in MLB.  You would be hard-pressed to find a starter with numbers worse than Marquez's 8.78 ERA and 1.83 WHIP, and he has thrown 40 innings on the season.  The Rockies keep running him out there.

Ranger Suarez starts for the Phillies.  Suarez recently returned to the Phillies rotation after missing the first six weeks of the season due to lower back soreness.  He was blown up in his first start for seven earned runs but has pitched well in his last two and is 2-0 on the season.

The Phillies have won six straight and are looking to sweep the Rockies this afternoon in Colorado.  Philadelphia won't let up on the gas pedal against the lowly Rockies.  It's a no mercy kind of club.  They are a veteran team playing for a World Series title in a competitive division.  They know every game counts and if Philadelphia wants a first round buy in the playoffs, they need to win this game.  They will be ready to play come game time.

We enter today with 1.93 units in play.  I'm going to press it all on the Phillies and lay the long odds for a small payday.
