Postgame Report: NYY (-325) Winner
Kyle Freeland got through four innings before getting bombed for 10 runs in the fifth. The game was over for the most part. There were a lot of hot pretzels and draft beers sold in the top of the sixth inning. Many of those watching the game on television clicked over to the hockey game, or perhaps to a rerun of House Hunters.
Max Fried had a tidy start, going 7.1IP in 83 pitches. He struck out seven and could of easily notched a complete game but with the Yankees up 13-1, Fried was pulled. The complete game is a lost art.
Righty Ian Hamilton picked up where Fried left off in the eighth and struck out three. Eight hits and a walk for the Rockies, they put some runners on base, they had a chance to score some runs, it wasn't all bad offensively. They didn't get the timely hits or the big hit and only managed the one run on a Jordan Beck RBI single in the first inning.
The Yankees had 21 hits, took five walks, scored 13 runs. Goldschmidt, Bellinger, Volpe and LeMahieu all had three hits for New York. Aaron Judge hit his 19th home run of the season.
It was a big night at the plate for a Yankees' team that has been otherwise luke warm with the bats. They have hit just .211/.297/.411 over their past six games. They have managed to win five of the past six. Prior to tonight's offensive onslaught, their pitching was to credit for the victories.
Back to the board tomorrow with 1.31 units in play.
