Postgame Report: DET (-200) Loses
The Angels beat the Tigers 5-2 last night and our Pickstreak ends at two.
Credit Kyle Hendricks with the win. The soft tosser lobbed 7.2 innings allowing two earned runs. Hendricks has made a career on the back of that 87MPH fastball, inducing soft contact and relying on his defense to win games. He struck out three, 21 balls were put in play, only four went for hits. It's impressive in the day and age of the power pitcher. I wouldn't rely on him to be consistently as good as he was last night, but congratulations are in order, a fine start is always appreciated.
The Angels offense woke up and collected 10 hits, eight off Flaherty. They knocked the Tiger's ace out of the game in the fifth, scoring all five of their runs (four earned) before the Tigers bullpen took over. Detroit's pen would hold the Halos scoreless over 2.1 innings, but their bats couldn't get to Hendricks and allowed him to pitch deep into the game.
It was exactly what the Halos needed, their bullpen was taxed and tired, having blown two games in a row.
As far as our Pickstreak goes, I had a feeling that 10-4 was inevitable and raked two units to the bank account. I'll take the loss but am happy to have saved some profit.
Back to the board with one unit in play.
