Today's Pick: WAS (+120) over BAL
All the math in the world doesn't necessarily play out well in the short term. The lucky man played a three team parlay that he devised while eating a stromboli because some marinara sauce fell just so on the newspaper he was reading, indicating he should pick the Braves, Giants and Astros to win, and they did!
But a sound methodology, good research and adherring to a risk management strategy should prevail in the long run. That's what the math says. Meanwhile, Stromboli guy is cashing a ticket, and math man is down one unit on the season.
I like the Nationals who look to be home dogs against an Orioles team that has had struggles in the pitching department. Mitchell Parker starts for the Nationals and he has been one of MLB's best statistically through his first three starts. Dean Kremer starts for Baltimore. He has a fat fastball and tends to give up a lot of hard contact.
Baltimore's calling card is its offensive prowess and their lineup is a concern, but they are hitting just .184 against lefties as a team. The Orioles got clobbered 24-2 the other night, their bullpen may be rested but it isn't that good either. The Nationals aren't stacked offensively but Keiber Ruiz is off to a hot start at the plate, James Wood is a big power threat and Dylan Crews is on a six game hitting streak entering today's game. I like the Nationals to win today and the price is nice at (+120).
