Today's Pick: BOS (-290) over CHW
It's a new day. We took our first loss of the season yesterday, still reeling from that one. Blown saves always hurt the spirit.
But we get back on the proverbial horse. Mine looks more like a donkey but I like him.
Today's pick is Boston (-290) over the Chicago White Sox. It's Walker Buehler, who hasn't been that good, against righty Jonathan Cannon, who I honestly haven't got a read on yet.
But I've been an advocate of Buehler's and still believe he will find his form.
That said, I'm still hesitant to make this pick. The White Sox have won three of five from Boston in April and they had a good day at the plate yesterday. Despite their strong showing against the Red Sox, the Southsiders have still been bad as a team overall. Cannon isn't a legitimate threat to post a quality start, their bullpen is far from formidable. They still have a core group that is collectively hitting under .200.
The Red Sox are a better team offensively and Weissert, Winkowski, Whitlock and Chapman have all had a full day of rest. I'm going to pick through the pain and take Boston to win today.
