Postgame Report: PIT (+115) Winner

Everybody got a hit last night for the Pirates in a 3-0 victory over the Angels.  Even the pinch hitter, Jared Triolo, pitched in a single in a game that saw ten Pirate players collect at least one hit.

But the story of the game was Andrew Heaney.  The Pirate's starter had another excellent start:  6.0IP 1H 0ER 9K 0BB -- you can't ask for much more from your starter.  The Pirates bullpen also pitched three scoreless innings to combine with Heaney for the shut out.

Kochanowicz's line doesn't look that bad, he went six innings and only gave up two runs, but he continues to give up a lot of hits and the damage should have been worse as the Pirates stranded ten base runners in the game, seven of those under Kochanowicz's reign.

Reid Detmers, who Kochanowicz replaced in the Angels rotation, struck out four in two innings of scoreless work.  I imagine they will be swapping duties sooner than later.

Heaney has been the best free agent signing of the off season.  He signed a 1yr / 5.25M pact that is looking like a fantastic bargain.  Like $5 footlongs at Subway.  It will be interesting to see what the Pirates do with Heaney.  He has been their best pitcher by a long shot, outshining the rookie phenom Paul Skenes.  At 34 years of age, Heaney has one more nice deal in his future.
