Postgame Report: PHI (-115) Winner
Ben Brown had five strike outs through three innings, allowing three hits and no walks early. Cubs fans were basking in the April sun, sipping Old Style, talking about Ryne Sandberg and dreaming of October baseball. It all fell apart. Brown pegged Kyle Schwarber to start the fourth inning, gave up four singles in row to the bottom of the Phillies lineup, another single from Bryson Stott and a double from Bryce Harper before he was lifted from the game.
It was 6-0 and Luzardo was cruising. The Cubs would get to Luzardo in the fifth for a pair of unearned runs but it was another quality start for the Phillies ace: 6IP 3H 0ER 5K 3BB.
Philadelphia tacked on another three runs against Cubs reliever Ethan Roberts in the sixth and a Max Keplar home run would make it 10-2 before the Phillies bullpen saw action.
The Phillies bullpen hasn't been great. Matt Strahm gave up a pair of runs in the top of seventh but that would be it for the Cubs who were defeated 10-4 at Wrigley Field.
Our fourth win in a row. A four game Pickstreak is on heading into Sunday with 4.3 units in play.
